Bio

I am second generation Irish on my mother's side, and a "MUTT" on my father's side (as he puts it). I became re-interested in Genealogy in May of 2015. Why you ask?? Well, a very good friend of mine took a trip to Ireland then to visit distant cousins. Each day she posted these gorgeous pictures on Facebook while she was there. So the hunt was back on for my family!!! Unfortunately, my attempts to track down my Irish roots do not go any further than seeing my great grandparents and other family on the 1901 and 1911 Census.
Although I so wanted to figure out some Irish connections on my mother's side, what I DID find out from my father's side has been nothing short of AMAZING. I have traced back 9 generations to my 8th great grandfather, Isaac Smart, who came from England to Salem County, NJ on the same ship as John Fenwick, in November of 1675. The house that he built in Elsinboro, NJ is still in good condition and occupied by a couple who restored the house in the 1970's.
When I am researching ancestors, there is great satisfaction with every new find that can be backed up with a source or citation!!
The Find A Grave part of tracing one's roots is invaluable. Having only been a member for a few months, I stop at burial grounds whenever I can to try to create memorials that have not yet been listed, and to take photos of grave markers for pre-existing memorials without photos.
I try to be very accurate with the information that I log in using my cell phone, but if I have made a mistake, please do not hesitate to inform me.
Feel free to use any of my grave marker photos in any way that you would like. No copyright requests needed from me. We are all here to share!!

I am still new to this, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
