THE GENEALOGIST

Up, up, I climbed my family tree,
An explorer on the pages of history.
I took old volumes long hidden away
And brought them to the light of day.
I traveled from A right on thru Z,
Unraveling this family mystery.
As times, names and dates were slowly recorded,
I felt inside I was truly rewarded.
The tiny tree grew tall and branched out wide,
I began to know each one inside.
For now, thru time and its reality,
Hand in hand, we’ll receive immortality.
My heart is bound into this book
Which flows through time like a singing brook.
Gently, I’ve touched each branch of the tree
And recorded each one for posterity.
Far in the future, on a long distant day,
Others will know who walked this way.
