Born and raised in Decatur, Georgia in 1960, I am a 6th Generation Georgian. I attended Avondale High School, and Georgia State University. I spent 7 years as a Commissioned Officer in the U.S. Army, and Commanded a Tank Company assigned to the 82d Airborne Division during Operation Desert Shield / Desert Storm.

I was a part of a 5-man publicity stunt that rolled a beer keg from NYC to LA in 1980, to raise money for St. Jude Children's hospital.

I previously owned a bicycle shop in downtown Decatur, GA, and participated in triathlons, having completed 4 Half-Ironman triathlons. I now reside in Murray, KY, where I am active in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6291, acting as the District 1 Commander, the Post Quartermaster, and was awarded "All-American" Post Commander status in 2020 & 2021.
