Born in the 1950's Santa Cruz County, California. I am a United States Marine Corps Veteran. I am a retired Deputy Sheriff from Santa Cruz County, California Sheriff's Office. Back in 1982 I was hurt at work, and after surgery, was laid up at home in a hospital bed, my mother dropped off a box of her genealogy (years of work done by hand and typewriter, before the computer age and internet). She told me it would help keep me busy during my recovery. She was right ... I was hooked! Been working on it ever since. Got started in on the ground floor of the internet and genealogy, was doing pretty good at for years. Had my own web site, and to this day still find people using my data and photos. I returned to work and in 2003 had another bad work injury ... I was out of it for years! If it was not for my great wife, Kitty, I would probably not be here today, she kept me going. But I missed out on years of genealogy work and all the new neat web sites. Just since the end of 2015 I have been getting back into it a little bit at a time. Discovering great new sites (to me), like Find A Grave. This is fantastic, I only wish I could do more.
