Bio

Born in Garden City, Kansas. Spent four years in U.S. Marines, 1967-1971. Married woman from Ohio and moved there. Worked for Chrysler Corp. for 26 years and retired.

Moved to Georgia (some of my family are originally from the south and I feel like I have come home) and I plan to live happily ever after, God willing.

My mother was a Bryan from Chillicothe, Missouri. My dad was descended from the Nites of Texas, and Wickers of Georgia and South Carolina.

The old cemeteries in coastal Georgia are a gold mine of history. The richest plantation owners lived along the coast and things were booming before the civil war.

I try to be a Christian about helping people correct or add things to a memorial. I figure the person making the suggestion knows more about the memorial than I do. Life is too short to worry about the little things. I really don't like memorial managers who want you to send a blood sample before they will accept an edit. Get a life.

A Marine friend of mine was killed in 1969 in Vietnam. Would you please take the time to go to his memorial and leave a flower. James Holland Porter- Memorial number 39194707. Thanks and God bless.
