Bio

Hi. I was born in Mt Carmel IL, which is in Wabash Co in the far southeastern part of Southern IL. My family tree has two broken limbs... at least two biological fathers names are missing altogether from the "historical" legacy of my family. That is; Daisy Arvilla Bare Gore, my great grandmother, had a love affair in her youth, with a man named either Graff or Groff, who was on his way to California? Unfortunately, I don't know that anyone still alive has ANY real data about this man, this deep family secret. Then, my dad, John Franklin Gore, a devastatingly handsome man in his youth, was born to Daisy's first-born, Mr. Graff/Groff's daughter, Irene Bare, my grandmother. My dad was reared by his grandmother, Daisy, thinking she was his mom until he learned the truth from someone in Bellmont.

Irene was very young, just 15 or 16 when he was born, and though they wanted to marry, both Bud Carter's parents and Irene's parents refused to allow this wedding. Thus, another family secret gets revealed here only! My dad John was given his step-grandfather's last name of Gore, which he then passed on to me and my sisters and our brother. Really, I guess we were really meant to be Carters since no "adoption" took place. this was just an informal family arrangement that worked for 14 years!

I never really had the chance to ask my Dad about how this experience affected him and how it mattered to him. But, he was very proud of the Gore name, not realizing at the time about his illustrious family past of the Riggs and the Bares! Both of the lines meet in the marriage of Arletta Elizabeth Middleton Bare
