Native Texan. Attended SMU and Navarro College on athletic scholarships before earning BBA degree from Univ of North Texas in Feb 1953. Volunteered for Navy OCS to fulfill military service obligation. Found navy life and job assignments to be satisfying and made Navy a career. Earned MS in Management degree from US Naval Postgraduate School in Aug 1965. During naval career I progressed through a series of jobs with increased responsibilities. Based on senior officers' evaluations of performance, received regular, timely promotions. Retired Aug 31, 1976 with rank of Captain, U S Navy. Had a rewarding 16 year second career with a large electric utility company (Texas Utilities) based in Dallas.
