I have come to realize that taking a photo of a cleaned up headstone is ever so much more appealing than just taking a photo of the headstone, regardless of its condition. Many of these headstones have so much mold, algae, etc that the details are obscure. So I spend quite a bit of time cleaning them with baking soda & water. It doesn’t hurt the stone and does a world of good! I have requested photos of my own ancestors’ headstones in the past. When the photo has been at last uploaded, I know the wonderful feeling that I hope to bring to other people.
