I see what was, and is, and will abide;|
Still glides the Stream, and shall for ever glide;
The Form remains, the Function never dies;
While we, the brave, the mighty, and the wise,
We Men, who in our morn of youth defied
The elements, must vanish; - be it so!
Enough, if something from our hands have power
To live, and act, and serve the future hour;
And if, as toward the silent tomb we go,
Through love, through hope, and faith's transcendent dower
We feel that we are greater than we know.
Valedictory Sonnet to the River Duddon
Life must go on;
I forget just why.
-Edna St. Vincent Millay
"We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars."
"Life isn't fair.
Sometimes you're the windshield, sometimes you're the bug."
Do not regret growing older. It is a privilege denied to many.

I visited the Lone Tree cemetery today and there was no stone for Ray Stahle. So I called city hall and they do not have him buried there. I will have the genweb site for Lone Tree corrected and delete his memorial in Lone Tree cemetery. It may take them awhile to correct the web site. Thanks for asking.

The entry in Oakland was made based on walk through documentation of Iowa City Genealogical Society of stones in the 1970s. So we know he had a stone there in 1970s. I don't know about the one in Lone Tree. Its possible that he has one in both places with one being a cenotaph(a memorial stone with no actual burial there) in order to have a stone near a loved one. I noted that there are 2 more generations at Lone Tree. This is not uncommon. I have requested photos of both stones.

I am confused too now, but I will check out the Lone Tree Cemetery and see what I find. I am not sure, but he may have been divorced from Edith.

I deleted mine. I have a feeling though that Cedar Grove Cemetery and Tarbill Cemetery are one in the same.

My information comes from the Marion Twp Cemetery listings. The number that you listed in the body of your email brings up a different person.

You're very welcome, I enjoy helping and I couldn't resist debunking a family dispute :)

|Fawn||Rose's and Thraps|
I was able to find Margaret and Alva Rose's marker and photograph it today for you. Also came across some Thraps a Samuel and his wife, not sure if they're any relation to Sarah Thrap, Alva's mother. I am trying to finish photographing the whole cemetery and came across them today. There may be more, but I was only able to be out there for a couple hours today (too windy and cold!).

I can't remember who or whom it was, but they sent me the birth date of October 16.

To answer your question, my husband is related to Etta's husband Albert Sheldon who would be my husband's 1st cousin 3x removed. Albert's mother was Caroline Hemingway Sheldon who was a sister of Josiah Hemingway...my husband's greatx3 grandfather. I corresponded with Etta's daughter Ruth many years ago & I currently have connected with Etta's great granddaughters.
