Died of a heart attack on the dock at Bremen while with his wife awaiting boarding of a ship to the USA to visit their sons, Heinz and Christian, who were living in Wisconsin.
He was the last survivor of his half-siblings from his father's first marriage, Christine, George and Friedrich, Johanne Weiss and Marie, who all preceded him in death.
