He was born June 24, 1899, in the Lynchburg community, the son of Madison Roads and Laura Snyder Roads.
He had operated a hardware store in Lynchburg for several years and had served on the Lynchburg Board of Education for several terms, most of the time as president. He also was a 50 years member of the Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by one son, John Roads, Lynchburg; and daughter, Mrs. Betty Saba, Cleveland; two sisters, Mrs. Lyman Hilliard of Hillsboro and MRs. Albert Mertz of Dayton; and four grandchildren. he was preceded in death by his wife and a brother, Judge Orland Roades.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the K. K. Davis Funeral Home in Lynchburg, with the Rev. James Creamer officiating and burial in the Lynchburg Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
The family suggests contributions may be made to the Lynchburg-Clay Schools memorial funs.
