Film director. He started his career as a film critic, moved on to assistant director to, among others, Roberto Rossellini, then finally began directing in the early 1950s. Most famous for his contributions to the 'Spaghetti Western genre,' he is fondly remembered for directing films such as "Minnesota Clay," "Django," "The Great Silence" and "Two Colonels."
