During the 1930s and '40s, among those whom Kahn discovered and nurtured their careers were Olivia de Havilland, Joe E. Brown, Dana Andrews, Ann Sothern, Gilbert Roland, Jennifer Jones, DeForest Kelley, Alan Ladd, Veronica Lake, Lew Ayres, Angela Lansbury, Cornel Wilde and Linda Darnell, who he brought from Dallas, Texas to Hollywood in 1938 and for whom he wrote 'Star Dust' in 1940 for her big screen debut. Kahn was the father of bass player John Kahn.
