Robert (Bob) Eugene Marquis, 82 years, went to his heavenly home on Friday, May 27th, 2011. He was born on May 31, 1928 in Kansas City, Kansas to the parents of William Creel Marquis and Amelia May (Gilbert). He was a long time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, serving on the board for several years. He served the Boy Scouts helping with Cub Pack 715 and as Scout Master of Troop 780 for many years. They hiked many mountains including Mt. Whitney several times. Bob retired as a Staff Sergeant after 20 years of service in the United States Marine Corps. He went on to retire after 24 years as a Maintenance Supervisor for the Oceanside Unified School District. He enjoyed camping and traveling around the world with his family and friends. In later years, he loved playing the ukulele with the Sunset Strummers. Bob loved to watch the news, read the newspaper, and do the crossword puzzles. Bob is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ella Mae (Berner); his sons, Robert Jr. and wife Stevie, William and wife Zita, Daniel, and David; daughter, Cheryl Louey; grandchildren, Joel Marquis and wife Erika, Sarah Fritz and husband Brooks, Adam Marquis, Benjamin Louey, Hailey Louey, and Alexis Marquis; great- grandchildren, Brooklyn Rose and Levi Rex Fritz, and Scout Anabella Marquis; sisters, Dr. Geraldine Marquis-Combs, her husband Dr. James Combs, and Cecile Trindle; brother, Donald and his wife Linda; sister-in-law, Doris Marquis; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; including the families of David Flanagan, Tom Cushing and Eric Stacy. Viewing on Thursday, June 2nd at Eternal Hills Mortuary, Oceanside between 4 and 8 pm. Funeral service will be on Friday, June 3rd at 1 pm, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Oceanside, with Pastor Duane Behnken officiating. Interment to follow at Eternal Hills Cemetery.
