Singer. Born in Manchester, he was the youngest member of "The Sweet Sensation", who were the winners of I.T.V.'s talent show "New Faces." One of the judges on that show was Tony Hatch, who co-wrote the song "Sad Sweet Dreamer", which the Sensation then recorded and which reached Number One in the U.K. charts in October 1974. Their only other hit was "Purely by Coincidence", which reached No. 11 In 1991. Marcel King recorded "Reach for Love" for the Manchester-based Factory Records, which seems unusual as that label is associated with acts such as Joy Division. Four years after that, he died of a cerebral haemorrhage.
