Thoroughbred Race Horse. The bay stallion was champion of the 1993 Belmont Stakes. Additionally, his victory gave Hall of Fame jockey Julie Krone the distinction of becoming the first female to ride a winning horse in any leg of the Triple Crown. The thrill of victory in the winners circle for Krone and Colonial Affair was overshadowed by the tragic injury to Preakness winner Prairie Bayou for which led to the horse being euthanized later that day. The offspring of Pleasant Colony (1981 Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner) and Snuggle from Rutledge Farm in Middleburg, Virginia, he was guided by Hall of Fame trainer Scotty Schulhofer and during the course of his career, his earnings topped 1.6 million dollars. The Jockey Club Gold Cup, Whitney Handicap and Excelsior Handicap were additional races he emerged victorious. After retiring from racing, he was sold to Haras El Paraiso Farms in Buenos Aries, Argentine to serve as a stud horse. He died from age-related causes and was buried in the horse cemetery on the farm's grounds.
