U.S. Congressman. He graduated from University Law School Illinois, in 1926, was admitted to the Michigan bar in 1926 and practiced law in Ontonagon, Michigan. He was prosecuting attorney of Ontonagon County, (1929-340 and deputy commissioner of the Michigan Department of Labor and Industry, (1935-37). In 1943, he was elected as a Republican to the Seventy-eighth Congress, serving until 1945. He was again elected in 1946, to the Eightieth Congress and to the next eight succeeding Congresses and served until his death from cancer at age 60.
