SHEILAH CAMPBELL 1924 - 2007 Sheilah Campbell (Davis), mother to Deirdre (Robert) Kozminski, Fletcher (Bonny) Campbell, Shelley (Jim) Walsh passed away peacefully on Friday, March 23, at the age of 83. She is fondly remembered by grandchildren, Matthew (Kelly), Megan, Dean, Bennett, Billy, Keaton and Sydney; great-grandchildren, Carter and Chandler, and her many nieces and nephews. Sheilah was predeceased by her husband Fraser in 1992, a lawyer and Justice of the Peace in Winnipeg. Sheilah is survived by her sister Becky Case in BC. Sheilah was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan to Mina and Stephen (Bowser) Davis February 24, 1924. Sheilah's father worked for Indian Affairs Department so she spent her early years amongst the Cree Indians whose spirit she admired her whole life. Sheilah moved to Winnipeg, married Fraser in 1942 prior to Fraser's posting overseas during the Second World War. Fraser returned to Winnipeg where they raised their family spending most weekends and holidays at their cottages at Victoria Beach on lake Winnipeg. Sheilah's kindness, thoughtfulness, quick wit, and sense of humor, will be sorely missed by everyone whom she touched. She was a truly independent spirit whose philosophy is embodied in the title of her memoirs, PADDLE YOUR OWN CANOE . A Memorial Service will be held at FIRST MEMORIAL FUNERAL SERVICES, 240 17 Avenue S.W., Calgary on Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, and in recognition of Sheilah's lifelong devotion to her animals, if friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Calgary Humane Society, 4455 110th Ave SW Calgary, T2C 2T7. The family would like to thank the caring staff at the Mount Royal Care Center for their care, kindness and friendship during the last year. A memorial service will also be held in Winnipeg in August where Sheilah's remains will be laid to rest beside Fraser at the Kildonan Presbyterian Cemetery.
