Commemorative & Biographical Annals of Central Pennsylvania:
George S Good a man of large business interests & of prominence in the business circles of central Pennsylvania was born Apr. 10, 1845, near Milton. He received his school training at the Dickinson Seminary at Williamsport, his education was interrupted in 1862 when he was 17 years old when he entered the US service. He accepted an appointment.to a 2nd lieutenancy Company I 84th PVI. At the battle of Chancellorsville Virginia, he received a gunshot wound in the right hand & was taken prisoner & confined to Libby prison for 3 weeks. In 1863 he was taken prisoner again at the battle of Mine Run, He was one of the prisoners who escaped in May 1864. Unfortunately, he did not long enjoy his freedom as he was recaptured the nest day.
Thru political influence he was liberated. He participated in the battle of Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville & Mile Run.
He returned to Lock Haven & engaged in the grocery business & in railroad work.
In 1867 he was united in marriage with Miss Kate Baker & their children are: Sallie B, Mary W, Blanche B, Harry F, Ralph & George S Jr. Their family are of the Presbyterian faith.
