He was born June 23, 1940, to Henry Maxey and Beulah McMillen Maxey.
He was an avid hunter and a charter member of the Duck Pond Hunting Club in Brunswick, GA.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, especially attending motor cross races his grandson participated in.
He was a retired pulp mill superintendent.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Leland and Neal Maxey; sisters, Ruth Durham and Jolene Hallmark; and three grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, of Booneville; two sons, two daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchild.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 29, at Waters Funeral Home.
Burial will be in the Prentiss Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to service time Monday.
