Professional Basketball Player. For thirteen seasons (1970 to 1983), he played at the center position in the National Basketball Association with the Cincinnati Royals, Kansas City/Omaha Kings, New Jersey Nets and Cleveland Cavaliers. While with the Aggies, he distinguished himself when he achieved All-American honors and was a major contributor to New Mexico State's reaching the "Final Four" during the 1970 NCAA Tournament. Selected by Cincinnati as the 5th overall pick during the first round of the 1970 NBA Draft, Lacey totaled 1,002 regular season games and compiled 10,303 points with 9,687 total rebounds. In 1975, he led the NBA with 921 defensive rebounds and earned all-star status that year.
