US Congressman. He graduated from Dartmouth College, in 1795, then was a tutor at Chesterfield Academy, (1795-97) and at Dartmouth College, (1797-99). He moved to Vermont, in 1800, engaged in mercantile pursuits, was a member of the Vermont State House of Representatives, (1808-10, 1812) and also held several local offices in Dummesston, Vermont. In 1815, he was elected as a Federalist to the Fourteenth Congress, serving until 1817. After his term, he retired to a farm near Putney, Vermont, until his death at age 77.
