U.S. Senator. After graduating from Doane College Nebraska, in 1900, he was a construction engineer with the Chicago, Burlington Quincy Railroad, (1900-08). He was a member of the Curtis City Board, (1908-13), a member of the Omaha board of education and Republican National committeeman for Nebraska, (1936-40). In 1940, he was elected as a Republican to the United States Senate and served until his death from a stroke at age 76.
