Adjutant General of Vermont. Nephew of Alden Partridge, Norwich University's founder. Educated at local schools. Worked as store clerk in Norwich, and in Claremont and Hanover, New Hampshire. Norwich Postmaster, 1833. Graduate, Norwich University, 1836. Proprietor of store in Norwich and town's Union Hotel. Married Harriet Baxter of Norwich, June 16, 1846. Three children: Lewis, Lizzie, Harriet Louise. Wife Harriet died, August 25, 1854. Married Elizabeth Woodruff of Tinmouth, May 27, 1856.
