Major League Baseball Player. The 6-foot outfielder was the first player to hit 30 homers, steal 30 bases and bat .300 in a season. The left-handed hitter batted .300 or better 10 times and was the first American Leaguer to belt three homers in a game (on April 22, 1922 against the Chicago White Sox). He played for the Cincinnati Reds in 1915 and 1916. He was with the St. Louis Browns from 1918 to 1927 and for several years was part of a potent outfield that also included Baby Doll Jacobson and Jack Tobin. In 1921, he hit .347 with 31 doubles, 24 homers and 117 runs batted in. His best season was 1922, when he batted .332 and led the league with 39 homers and 155 RBIs. He also stole 37 bases that season and hit two homers in one inning on August 7. The Browns finished one game behind the New York Yankees that year. He followed with .357, 37 doubles, 29 homers and 91 RBIs in 1923. In 1925, he batted .331 and had 31 doubles, 25 homers and 105 RBIs. He also played for the Boston Red Sox in 1928 and 1929. For his 14-year career, he batted .319 and had 1,552 hits, 285 doubles, 196 homers, 913 RBIs and 154 stolen bases.
