Mrs. Avery was born to the late Clifton Booker Miller and Gladys Gregg Miller. She was a member of the Lord Craven Chapter of the Colonial Dames of the Seventeenth Century, the Stamp Defiance Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Cape Fear Chapter of the Daughters of the Confederacy. She was the widow of Lowell S. Avery to whom she was married to for forty-eight years. She is survived by her four children: Elizabeth, Lowell Stuart, John and Frances. She is also survived by her brother Wayne Miller and nine grandchildren. Mrs. Avery was a member of the Lord Craven Chapter of the Colonial Dames of the Seventeenth Century, the Stamp Defiance Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Cape Fear Chapter of the Daughters of the Confederacy.
