Jazz Musician. A native of Oakland Park, Illinois, he was a talented alto saxophonist and bandleader. A member of the musical group, 'Marv Koral & His All Stars, he formed the group in 1992, with trombonist Carl Fontana, bassist Carson Smith, drummer Tom Montgomery, and pianist Gus Mancuso, who had all worked with the likes of Frank Sinatra, Woody Herman, Buddy Rich, and Quincy Jones. A veteran of World War II, he served in the Anti-Arcraft Battalion, as an Army Sergeant. Dring the 1950s, he formed the band, 'The Tritones,' and then became a member of Tommy Dorsey's band, (replacing Buddy Franco), and then touring the United States with them. In 1954, Koral moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, married a rockette, and then continued to work. He became the leader of several local orchestras and performed at the Tropicana's Blue Room and with the house band 'Dune' in the "Holiday In Japan" production at the Thunderbird. Koral also worked with Red Norvo on his 1958 album, "Windjammer City Style," the Johnny Haig Orchestra, and the Harry James band when they played Carnegie Hall in 1972. He was also a performer in the El Rancho Orchestra. He passed away in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the age of 79.
