US Congressman. He was a native of Burlington, Vermont, where he received his education, graduating from the University of Vermont. His chosen profession was teaching, but after settling in Attala County, Mississippi, he became a lawyer. He was active in local and state politics for over 40 years. From 1871 to 1872 he was circuit judge for the thirteenth judicial district. In 1872 he was elected to the Forty-third Congress and served one term, 1873 to 1875.
