Major William Harrison Martin born in Twiggs County, GA September 2, 1822, son of Robert and Charlotte Martin of Alabama and grandson of Benjamin and Charity Harrison on his mother's side, died on Saturday, February 5, 1898 in Henderson County, Texas. He was known as "Howdy" Martin. Served during entire war in the Confederate service being in battle of Gettysburg, and 2ed battle of Manassas. Married Miss Martha E. Gallimore on February 12, 1867 of Navarro County, Texas.
