Dolphus loved to trade stuff. It was once said that if he didn't need Flossie to watch the kids he would've traded her off for a good huntin gun or knife.
He would give any grandchild that asked for it and was small enough a piggy-back ride when ever he was out walking with them.
He was always up to buy you a 'sodie' if you were thirsty.

Little did we know that day
that our Lord would call your name.
In life we loved you dearly,
in death we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you,
though you did not go alone,
for part of us went with you
the day God called you home.

Our family chain is broken
and nothing seems the same
but as God calls us one by one
the chain will link again

The Little Ship

I stood watching as the little ship sailed out to sea.
The setting sun tinted his white sails with a golden light and as he disappeared from sight a voice at my side whispered, "He is gone".

But the sea was a narrow one. On the farther shore a little band of friends had gathered to watch and wait in happy expectation. Suddenly they caught sight of the tiny sail and at the very moment when my companion had whispered, "He is gone" a glad shout went up in joyous welcome, "Here he comes!"

Sunshine fades and shadows fall,
But memories of you outlast them all.
Unseen, unheard, you're always near,
Still loved, still missed, still very dear.
