French Royalty. She was the daughter of Louis IX and Marguerite de Provence. She was born in Jaffa during the sixth crusade, which was led by her father. She married Fernando de la Cerda, the oldest son of King Alfonso X of Castile, on November 30, 1269 in Burgos and gave birth to two sons, Alfonso and Fernando. After the death of her husband, his brother Sancho was named successor to King Alfonso, excluding her sons from the succession and forcing her to flee to Aragon and later back to France. She and her sons received a compensation in 1288, yet she never returned to Castile. She founded the Couvent des Cordeliers in Paris where she was buried. By her son Fernando she is grandmother of Maria de la Cerda.
