Staff Sgt. Herbick C. Dionne, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Dionne, 17 Mill St., has died of wounds suffered in action on Luzon, his parents were informed in a message received this morning.

Word that Staff Sgt. Dionne had been seriously wounded in combat Feb. 15 on Luzon was received Saturday night by his parents.

An outstanding athlete at O.F.A., Staff Sgt. Dionne was selected as All-Northern New York football player in 1939.

He left Ogdensburg in October, 1940, as a member of Company M, 108th Infantry. While serving with the local unit in Hawaii, he volunteered with other local boys, including Gerald Cutway and the late William Langley, for service in the South Pacific with infantry units.

Prior to the invasion of Luzon, he served with the 25th Division in New Britain and New Caledonia, and engaged in three other battles during his service overseas.
