Garnetta B. Hildreth, age 92, of Dodgeville, passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at Upland Hills Nursing and Rehab Center following a brief illness. The former Garnetta James was born on Sept. 22, 1915 in Dodgeville to Elmer and Lela (Fell) James. She married Benjamin Hildreth on March 9, 1935 and the couple resided in Dodgeville their entire married lives. Ben preceded her in death on Nov. 23, 1988. Garnetta's life revolved around her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed working around the home and in the yard tending to her flowers. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Carlos Hildreth on Oct. 14, 2005; four brothers, Allen, Eugene, Robert and John James; and a sister, Ruth Trowbridge. Garnetta is survived by a daughter, Beverly (Bill) Hennessey of Dodgeville; two sons, Kenneth Hildreth of Dillon, Mont. and Ray (Pam) Hildreth of Highland; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Schneider of Dubuque, Iowa; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2008, at the LULLOFF-PETERSON-HOUCK FUNERAL HOME, Dodgeville. Pastor Roger Koester will officiate with burial in East Side Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday after 11 a.m.
