Daughter of Charles Lee and Viola Drew Davis. On Christmas Day 1932, she was at the home of her sister, Atto Davis Gardner, attending to her sick seven-year-old nephew, Georgie while her sister and brother-in-law drove her father and stepmother home. She was standing at the hearth, combing her hair, when her clothing was ignited. Georgie came to her aid, but was unable to put out the flames, so he summoned a neighbor to help. The flames were extinguished, but June was badly burned. She was taken to Miller's Hospital, where she died early the next morning. She was sixteen years old.
