Singer. Born and raised in Trenchtown, Jamaica, he was known as "The Godfather of Rock Steady". His recordings include "Muriel" (1959), "Get Ready Rock Steady" (1966), and "I'm Still in Love with You" (1969). In 1994 Alton was awarded Jamaica's Order of distinction. In 2006 he was inducted into the International Reggae and World Music Hall of Fame.
