Ruth J. Aytes-Miller, 87, died Feb. 10, 2006, at Hutchinson Hospital.

She was born Dec. 18, 1918, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Dolph William and Maggie Mae Suerber Hagerman. She was a longtime Hutchinson resident. She belonged to Riverside Baptist Church, Wheathearts Camping Club, and volunteered at Hutchinson Hospital and Yavapai Regional Medical Center, Prescott, Ariz.

On Jan. 10, 1947, she married Oscar W. Aytes. On May 15, 1981, she married Lewis R. Miller. He died March 20, 1988.

Survivors include: two daughters, Ruthie Stevens, Hutchinson, and Shirley L. Horn, Moses Lake, Wash; a stepson, Lewis R. Miller Jr, Columbia, Mo; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, William Hagerman Jr.; and a sister, Charlotte Shulz.

Memorial service will be at 1 pm Tuesday at Riverside Baptist Church, with Pastor Richard Haley presiding. Cremation has taken place. Friends may sign the register Sunday and Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park. Memorials may be sent to the Hutchinson Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary, in care of the funeral home
