John August Seidelman, 64 of Oswego IL, crossed the finish line Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m., January 11, 2009 and Mikey Waltrip lost one of his number one fans. One of John's last wishes was that anyone that smokes should please stop – lung cancer is a painful death.

John was born December 17, 1944 to August and Dorothy (Van Etten) Seidelman. He attended Oswego High School before joining the US Navy when he was 16. John had a love for Navy and airplanes and was stationed at Whitbey Island, WA, VAH-4 Squadron, also served aboard the USS Kittyhawk off Vietnam, and the USS Forrestal in the Mediterranean.

John was born and raised in the Oswego area and spent several years in Fairchild, WI, Naperville, IL and finally returning to Oswego.

John worked many jobs in the Oswego area from Dean's Dairy as a driver, Caterpillar, welder at Dynaweld, Peterson Manufacturing, and was on medical leave from Caterpillar because of medical complications. John was first married to Diane Lewis and had two children, later divorced and married Lois Howell. John and Lois recently celebrated their 32nd anniversary.

It was later in life that John and his wife, Lois joined the ranks of NASCAR racing fans and their favorite was Mikey "55" Waltrip. They ventured to NC to meet and see him racing.

John is survived by his wife, Lois (nee Howell), of Oswego, son, John August (Michele) Turner and grandchildren: Dylan, Brandon, Austin, Griffin and Mikayla.; daughter Michelle Lee (Kent) Sager of LaPorte, Indiana and grandchildren: Daniel and LeeAnn Sager.
