Well Known Pioneer Resident of This Valley Dies Here This Morning

Mrs. Jemima Burland, one of the best known pioneer women in this valley, passed away this morning at 11:40 o'clock at her home at 240 Maple avenue after an illness lasting but eleven days although she had been failing for two years past. The funeral service will be held at the family residence at 3 o'clock on Friday afternoon and the body will be shipped on Saturday morning to the Woodlawn cemetery, San Mateo county, for interment on Saturday.

She came to this valley in 1856 and was married to the late Robert Burland. Three children blessed their union, these being William H. Burland of Los Angeles, Benjamin F. Burland of this city and Mrs. Jennie Linscott of this city. She is also survived by two sisters, who are Mrs. Victoria Burland of this city, and Mrs. Ann White of Oakland.
