When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight. ~~~ Kahil Gibran

A bright light has been dimmed for many, leaving us to mourn in her wake. But we were blessed from the beginning to know this woman with a zest for life, a heart of gold and a million dollar smile.

Kathy was co-owner of the St. Louis Street Cafe in Lebanon, Illinois, along with her husband Greg Herberts. Many will also remember her from the Horseshoe Sports Bar in Collinsville, where she was a waitress for close to twenty years. She loved to cook and bake and enjoyed cooking for her customers and her friends.

Kathy is survived by Greg, her mother Audrey Solomon, sisters Doreen Palmer and Mary Quinn, stepdaughters Jennifer Herberts-Crosby and Amy Peck, stepsons Sean Herberts and Zachary Herberts and nieces and nephews.

Kathy led a determined battle against cancer, positive that she would beat it. But the nature of the beast was too much and overtook her body in just a few short months. She will be greatly missed by her family and her many, many friends.

"Way over yonder is a place that I know
Where I can find shelter from hunger and cold.
And the sweet tasting good life is so easily found
Way over yonder - that's where I'm bound!

I know when I get there, the first thing I'll see
Is the sun shining golden - shining right down on me.
Then trouble's gonna lose me - worry leave me behind
And I'll stand up proudly in true peace of mind.

Way over yonder is a place I have seen
In a garden of wisdom from some long ago dream.

Maybe tomorrow I'll find my way
To the land where the honey runs in rivers each day.
And the sweet tasting good life is so easily found
Way over yonder - that's where I'm bound!

Way over yonder - that's where I'm bound!"
