I.R. Monnette, son of Byron Elsworth Monnett and Harriett (Hattie) Jones Monnette Dierdorff. Born on 12/08/1889 on the family farm near Kirkpatrick, in Scott Twp. Marion County Ohio. Married to Rebecca Jane Burtsfield (d. 1972). Father of five. Grandfather of nine and great-grandfather. A lifelong farmer in Marion County Ohio, he also operated grain elevators at Hoover Station (Marion County Ohio) and Tobias. Served on the Scott Township Board of Education for the school once located at Kirkpatrick, Ohio. Also preceded in death by sister Hazel Alice, daughter Harriett Ann, and son John E.

A word on the middle name spelling. Mr. Monnette seldom, if ever, used his full middle name. The ledger entry for his birth uses Rey, but his official court-issued "birth" certificate (issued years after his birth) used just the R. In newspapers, he was I.R. Monnette. Rey or Ray is correct, he would answer to either.
