DEATH TAKES MRS. DOTSON
Rites For Pioneer Henderson Resident Set For Wednesday.
Mrs. Margaret Cynthia Dermid Dotson, 95, a lifelong resident here and the oldest member of the First Baptist church, died unexpectedly early today at her home, 224 North Main Street.
She was the widow of William Forney Dotson.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 3:30 P.M. at the Thomas Shepherd Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Mack M. Goss, pastor of the First Baptist church, and Dr. Fred W. Paschall, pastor of the First Methodist church, will conduct the service.
Interment will be in Oakdale Cemetery with the following grandsons and nephews as pallbearers: Albert, William and Quay Beck, and Arthur, Charles and John Dermid.
Honorary pallbearers will be: J. E. Shipman, Dr. W. N. Fortescue, Dr. R. C. Sample, R. L. Whitmire, W. B. Hodges, J. H. Ellison, Paul Dermid, L. H. Hudson, A. V. Edwards, Roy C. Bennett, C. Few, O. Lee Allen, Lee Rector, A. F. Barber, Sr., Carl Shipman, R. P. Freeman, C. W. Kuykendall, and Gene and Hugh Whisnant.
She will remain at the funeral home until the service hour.
Mrs. Dotson was a native of Henderson County and a daughter of the late Lemuel Trader and Margaret Elizabeth Allen Dermid.
She attended the old Judson College here and taught in the schools of the county for about 10 years; including services at the old Blue Ridge Schoolhouse at Ebenezer and the old Hood Schoolhouse at Bat Cave, NC.
Surviving are a son, William Grady Dotson, of Badin; four daughters, Mrs. Noah Hollowell, Mrs. Albert Beck, Mrs. Elizabeth Camp, and Miss Kate Dotson, all of Hendersonville.
Also surviving are nine grand children, thirteen great-grandchildren, and a brother, L. T. Dermid, of Hendersonville.
