A miserable wretch named Shubert, an immigrant from one of the Western States to Walla Walla, left his wife and two daughters, aged respectively 13 and 17 years on Sinker Creek, in Owyhee, in a destitute condition. Messrs Johnson and Catlow of the Sinker Creek mill have charitably provided for the mother and daughter.

DASTARDLY CONDUCT. - An inhuman wretch by the name of Shubert, crossing the plains from one of the Western States to Walla Walla, with a five and two step-daughters, the oldest aged about 17 years, fell out with his family last week near the mouth of Sinker creek, took the wagon and team, with all their effects, and drove off, leaving the woman and two girls on the sage plain entirely destitute. C. H. Johnson of the Sinker mill, and John Catalow went to their relief with a team and provisions and brought them to Mr. Johnson's house, where they still remain. A subscription paper was circulated in town day before yesterday, and sufficient money collected to relieve their immediate wants. The will be brought in to town where a house has been provided for their accommodation. Such conduct as that of Shubert deserves severest punishment. We hope our contemporaries in Oregon and Washington will let the people know what manner of man this Shubert is, and hold him up to the execration of all good people. We have not learned his first name but will do so and publish it hereafter. Mrs. S. is represented to be quite an intelligent lady, as are also her daughter. We trust this community will meet them in a proper spirit by encouraging them and giving them something to do by which they can earn a comfortable livelihood.
