Betty A. Mayfield, 74, of Waverly passed away Saturday, April 2, 2005, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.

She was born Oct. 19, 1930, in Pleasants County, a daughter of the late Mancil and Gertrude Cronin Kelley. Betty was a homemaker and was an active member of the Waverly United Methodist Church for over 40 years, a lifetime member of the PTA and enjoyed crafts and playing string music.

Surviving is her husband of 55 years, Billy D. Mayfield of Waverly; two sons, Harley Mayfield and his wife, Cheryl, of Bridgeport, W.Va., and Carl Mayfield of Parkersburg; two grandchildren, Jessica and Billy Mayfield, both of Bridgeport; and several nieces and nephews and their families.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Mancil Kelley Jr. and Richard and Truman Kelley; and one sister, Bernice Childress.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Vienna, with the Rev. John W. Frum officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. Pleasant-Burnt Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-9 p.m. today and noon until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
