Murder Victim. The son of a wealthy Chicago, Illinois businessman, he was 14 years old when he was kidnapped and murdered by Nathan Leopold and Richard Loeb in May 1924. The pair had perpetrated the crime for the thrill of it and as example to themselves of their intellectual superiority experimentation. The crime drew national attention, especially after the pair were defended by attorney Clarence Darrow.
