Arthur Clarence Sayre, 83, died at his home north of Downing, Mo., on Monday, December 7, 1987. The son of Charley Judson and Sally (Brown) Sayre, he was born in Sullivan County, Missouri on Nov. 30, 1904.

On November 28, 1830 at Milan, Mo., he was united in marriage to Miss Dortha Lovell Daniel, who survives. Also surviving are; two sons, Edwin Sayre of Downing and Joe Elmer of Bloomfield, Ia., ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. Also three brothers, Hobert Sayre of Milan, Mo., Wilbur Sayre of Green Castle, Mo., and Robert Sayre of Green City, Mo.

Mr. Sayre was preceded in death by a son, Charles Arthur.

Mr. Sayre was a long-time resident of the Downing vicinity, where he was a livestock and grain farmer.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 9, 1987 at 2:00 at the United Methodist Church in Downing, Mo. Rev. Jerry Turner will officiate. Pallbearers will be grandsons. Burial will be in the Downing Cemetery at Downing, Mo. The body is at the Norman Funeral Chapel in Downing, where visitation will be held on Tuesday evening.
