He received his education at East Bonne Terre, Missouri, St. Francois County, where he grew up into young manhood, was baptized and was known locally having lived in East Bonne Terre many years. Later he worked at various places as a machinist and Scullin Steel as a diesel mechanic during World War II.
On 24 August, 1923 he was united in marriage to Edna Abernathy and to this union, one daughter, Edna Lucille, was born on 13 June, 1924.
31 August 1942, he was united in marriage to Velma Louise Moore. After marriage the couple resided in St. Louis, until September 1955 where they established a home in Washington, Missouri, To this union, one child was born.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, one brother and one half brother. Survivors include his wife Velma Louise Robertson, one son, Carl Benton Robertson Jr., one daughter, Lucille by a previous marriage, two brothers, William and Howard Robertson, one half-sister, Mrs. Bertha Burr, two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, 11 November at 2 p.m. by the Nieburg-Vitt Funeral Home, Rev. William Kennedy, First Baptist Church, of Washington, Officiating. Internment in the St. Peters Cemetery, Washington, Mo. in Franklin County.
