MRS. LILLY LONG LAID TO REST

Died at Her Home Near Kirkwood Wednesday After Week's Illness

Another home is bereft of its dearest occupant. The grim reaper, Death, has wielded a more than ordinary blow in this instance, where six small children, the eldest only 12 years, have been deprived of the love and careful guidance of a mother. Mrs. Lilly Long, wife of I. A. Long, passed away at her home southeast of Kirkwood last Wednesday evening at 9:10 o'clock, after an illness of just one week.
While out in the yard on the Wednesday before her death, Mrs. Long was stricken down and was carried into the house. The ailment was thought to be apoplexy. All that medical aid could do was of no avail and the hand of death could not be staid.
Mrs. Lily Long was the daughter of E. A. Reed who resides here, and was 34 years, 3 months and 18 days of age. She was born in Dixon, Solano county, but when a very small child came with her parents to Orland. Mr. Reed engaged in farming near here, where the daughter was reared to womanhood. Her mother, Mrs. Reed, died several years ago.
The funeral services were held from the Methodist church yesterday afternoon, Rev. G.O. Ash conducting the services. Interment took place at Odd Fellows' cemetery.
The sorrowing husband, children and father have the sympathy of the people of this community in this their sad affliction. – Transcribed by E.
