John was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Old 10th Ward, the VFW and was an active member of the Pascal Senior Center where he enjoyed playing pool. John was an avid trading card collector and enjoyed trying to get his cards autographed. He was very computer savvy, purchasing a Web-TV went it first came out and later updated when he was 80 to a desktop PC. He enjoyed building model airplanes and hand made kites. He accurately built a destroyer model even though the instructions were in French. He loved intricate work - macrame, creating pictures from thin wire, and jigsaw puzzles.
He remodeled his basement into a welcoming area with built in seating and a bar. Outside, he designed and built the swing set, a jungle gym, and a 30 foot high flag pole.
John enjoyed feeding the squirrels and birds. He passed away from advanced prostate cancer.
He was a very loving father to his son and daughter, devoted son and brother and is greatly missed.
