Don served as a Sp4 and Artillery Surveyor in Battery C, 10th Artillery, 82nd Airborne Division during the Vietnam War. He was decorated with the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was killed in a motorcycle accident in Michigan.
