Funeral services for Lillie M. Sattler of Madison were held Saturday, June 14, at 10:30 a.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses of Norfolk. Gary Novak of Norfolk officiated. Marge Tompkins, also of Norfolk, was the pianist. Burial was in Crown Hill Cemetery at Madison.
Serving as pallbearers were Dave Huntwork, C.E. Sellers, Vincent Vaught, and Omer Smith, all of Norfolk and Ruben Purviance of Madison.
Lillie M. Sattler, the daughter of Herman and Ernestine (Rathel) Zessin was born on a farm in Madison County, on March 27, 1894 and passed away early Wednesday morning, June 11, at a Norfolk hospital where she had entered on May 3. She was 86 years of age.
She grew up in the neighborhood where she was born and on September 17, 1910 she was married to Fred Sattler. Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Sattler made their home on a farm northwest of Madison until 1940 when they moved into Madison where Mrs. Sattler has since lived. Mr. Sattler passed away in 1960.
Mrs. Sattler was one of Jehovah's Witnesses associated with the Norfolk Congregation for forty-four years.
Among her survivors are her three sons, Arnold of Scapoose, Oregon; Emil of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Menville of Concord, California; two daughters, Violet Sattler at home and Goldie Lawson of Cleveland, Oklahoma; 18 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; two sisters, Rosetta Boysen of Madison and Bertha Eucker of Norfolk.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Sattler, one daughter, Ruby Sattler Erickson, and one son, Martin Sattler.
